A Gift To Myself: A Book about John Singer Sargent

John Singer Sargent is one of my favorite painters.  He captures an ethereal, elusive element in his subjects that is endlessly fascinating to me.  This book jumped into my amazon "cart" this morning.  I can't wait to hold it in my hands!

  1. He's one of my favorites too. I was fortunate to see a display of his work that traveled to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts several years ago and was in awe of the way he captured the light in his work. Every time I visit the museum I make it a point to look at the pieces of his they have in their collection.

  2. one of my faves too. When we recently visited the Biltmore Estate, there were at least two Singer Sargents---GW Biltmore had commissioned him to paint two (huge) portraits, one of the architect and one of the landscaper of Biltmore Estate. I was awed!

  3. I would love to see a retrospective of his work! You would enjoy this book.
It contains a lot of work I had never seen before, plus a collection of his letters to and from Claude Monet. I recommend it!
