"The Secrets of the Zona Rosa...

....How Writing (and sisterhood) Can Change Women's Lives", by Rosemary Daniell, is a book I picked up this weekend.
The first words in the book are these, by poet Mary Oliver:
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

I believe writers and visual artists wrestle with similar issues.  Here is another perfect quote for both:
the great French writer Andre Gide advised: “What another would have done as well, do not do it.  What another would have said as well or written as well, do not say or write it.  Be faithful to that which exists nowhere but in yourself.”

As I do more and more writing I feel the need to learn more about the craft.  I am looking forward to reading this book.  I wonder if anyone who reads my blog knows about this book, and, if so, what you think about it.

  1. I LOVE Mary Oliver's poety....one of her poems was the inspiration for a book I made a couple of years ago...the one with the zipper for a spine. Mary Ann

  2. As fate would have it, I am reading this book right now. I am enjoying it tremendously on so many levels. One day soon, I need to stop reading about writing and write. That said. I wish I had access to one of these groups. I find that I need structure these days.
